Step into the serene beauty of this Queenslander gem in Corinda, Brisbane, where Briswest Renovations worked its magic, transforming an outdated kitchen and sunroom into spaces that embody light and brightness. It was a pleasure to collaborate with the engaging and wonderful homeowners, bringing their dreams to life in this elevated Queenslander residence.

In the heart of this home, the kitchen renovation project took centre stage. Our clients desired a light and bright space, with an emphasis on open design and a functional seating space for stools. By removing the dividing wall between the kitchen and living space, we created an immediate sense of openness and light.
The tall VJ walls that typically characterize Queenslanders were reimagined. Due to the ceiling height, the cabinetry was kept in line with the lowest point. This maximised space and enhanced the room’s luminosity.

An existing alcove took away space and openness in the kitchen. It also compromised the design potential, so it was pushed out to the deck.

A key design feature was the custom detailed rangehood cabinetry, creating a centerpiece that added character to the kitchen. Placing windows on either side of the rangehood not only brought in natural light but also provided views out to the deck and backyard. The stained glass elements in the windows harmonized with the natural surroundings, adding a touch of playful elegance.

To optimize storage and traffic flow, the fridge was placed at the center of two mirrored pantry and drawer spaces. The pantry was cleverly split, with drawers placed underneath, adding both functionality and visual interest. The choice of a simple shaker style cabinetry profile enhanced the light and space, perfectly complemented by Caesarstone’s “Organic White” countertops with natural mottled white tones. The traditional subway splashback featured pretty patterning from the “Trove Caravelle” series, adding a touch of charm to the kitchen.

The elegant butler’s sink, set against a backdrop of double-hung windows, exuded timeless charm. A brushed gold sink mixer seamlessly integrated with the cabinetry handles, adding a touch of sophistication. The careful placement of glass pendants sourced by our clients have added a touch of elegance. Our clients fell in love with these lights, which complete the kitchen’s inviting ambiance whilst giving a nod to the original Queenslander.

The peninsula bench has become a favourite spot for our clients, allowing them to engage with family and guests while enjoying a seamless flow into the dining area and deck. The sense of openness and spaciousness was maintained, showcasing the potential of smaller spaces.

As part of the renovation project, the Briswest Renovations team also transformed the bathrooms. Selections and colour palettes with the desire to create cohesion across the design and finishes of the spaces. We took our cues from the kitchen project.

The adoption of soft greys was brought in through encaustic-look tiled floors, grounding spaces against hardwood timbers throughout the rest of the home. The continuation of whites and brushed gold was adopted and an updated version of heritage style tapware was included. Beautiful and simple white subway tiles were continued around the walls.

The sunroom was cleverly converted into a bright and airy ensuite, featuring soft greys and elegant touches. The ensuite showcased a grey wall-hung vanity, white subway tiles, and brushed gold accents, creating a harmonious and elegant space. Flanked with plantation shutters, the extension of the master bedroom has transformed the zone into a master suite.

Given the space and placement next to the shower, the bowl and mirror were offset to create the feeling of space and ensure there was no feeling of overcrowding.

Our client nailed the brief with her selection of a scalloped rattan pendant for the ensuite, and we’ve been delighted at her skill of lighting selections.

In the main bathroom, the removal of unnecessary high storage opened up the room, allowing space for a walk-in shower and a generously sized vanity. The previous location of the toilet was right off the entrance to the bathroom, from the living area. By adding to the single skin wall to remove noise, relocating the toilet and moving the door location, privacy was restored much to the delight of our clients.

These beautifully elegant spaces are a testament to clever design and thoughtful selections. Kind Words

Yes, Pete and the team at BWR indeed produce magnificent bathrooms (we have 3!) but they are also “top to toe” house renovation specialists.

Pete, Camillo, Rebecca, Cameron and the rest of the BRW Team have just completed a major renovation to our 5 bedroom Queenslander and the result is amazing! New floors, 3 new bathrooms, new kitchen, full window replacement, total repaint – The Works.

We researched long and hard before beginning our reno journey, met with many trades and builders. Within 5 minutes of meeting Pete, we knew we’d found our solution. As I mentioned to many of Pete’s team, we knew straight away that Pete was the sought of person that we could disappear for a couple of months, comfortable in the knowledge that we’d return to a job well done.

The care, attention and support invested by these guys extends across the board and is innate to their business culture, from Rebecca our guiding interior designer, Camillo and all trades, the respect, warmth, care and combined instances on producing a quality product was amazing.

We can not thank Pete and the BWR Team enough for the gift they have given us and would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to engage their services. Like all quality builders and renovation specialists Pete and his team are busy at present, however, I encourage you to wait for the best. Thanks Pete!
