Embark on a journey of transformation as Briswest Renovations takes you through a comprehensive home renovation project in Brisbane, encompassing the kitchen, laundry, main bathroom, ensuite, full repaint, and the addition of floating floors. This full-scale renovation aimed to breathe new life into the spaces, embracing an open plan living concept to enhance the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal of the home.

Briswest Renovations was engaged by our English clients to renovate their home in a quiet estate in The Gap. Having lived between the UK and Sydney, settling into Brisbane prompted them to update their brick home.

In the heart of the project was the kitchen renovation, where the existing layout was ready for a modern touch. Our clients’ main wish was to introduce an island with stool seating, creating a focal point for gathering and entertaining. We achieved this by reimagining the cabinetry layout, centering the oven and cooktop along the back line and removing the existing return cabinetry. The result was a spacious island with a sink at its center, allowing for a clean and functional kitchen space.

To maintain a timeless and traditional feel inspired by UK cabinetry, the VJ shaker profile was chosen. Finger pulls for the upper cabinetry ensured a seamless design without unnecessary interference. The Smartstone’s “Grande Onda” benchtop brought a perfect balance of a neutral palette with beautiful veining, extending to create an impactful splashback.

Adding depth and warmth to the kitchen, oak timber laminate was used strategically. This selection not only concealed the microwave and allowed for additional storage but also created a functional and practical area for everyday items like a toaster and coffee machine.

The neutral palette of the kitchen set the stage for a splash of colour in the laundry and bathroom spaces. Blue became the focal point, introduced through soft grey/blue hand-cut subway tiles and walls in the laundry and toilet areas. The laundry now boasts wall-to-wall cabinetry with a hanging rail and timber tops, exuding an English style charm.

Moving on to the main bathroom and toilet, navy encaustic-look tiles in a traditional style brought cohesion to the spaces. Large format stone grey tiles for the bathroom walls created an open and light atmosphere, allowing the vanity wall to become a feature with vertical stacked subways enhancing the tapware and placement. Using cool blues and chrome fittings across the main bath, laundry and toilet has brought a cohesive finish too. Complimented by the colour pop in the ensuite, the client’s favourite colours have become a feature. The oak from the kitchen prep area continued into the vanities, and were topped with soft flecked white stone for a cohesive design.

In the ensuite, a touch of drama was added with a deep emerald feature wall, creating a moody and heightened style. The same encaustic-look floor tile design as the main bathroom, this time in bold black and white, brought unity to the spaces. The emerald tiles use the same style and vertically stacked design as the cool blues of the main bathroom, but the colour of the ensuite now reflects the green walls of the living area.

Kind Words

MUCH MORE THAN JUST BATHROOM SPECIALISTS!!

Yes, Pete and the team at BWR indeed produce magnificent bathrooms (we have 3!) but they are also “top to toe” house renovation specialists.

Pete, Camillo, Rebecca, Cameron and the rest of the BRW Team have just completed a major renovation to our 5 bedroom Queenslander and the result is amazing! New floors, 3 new bathrooms, new kitchen, full window replacement, total repaint – The Works.

We researched long and hard before beginning our reno journey, met with many trades and builders. Within 5 minutes of meeting Pete, we knew we’d found our solution. As I mentioned to many of Pete’s team, we knew straight away that Pete was the sought of person that we could disappear for a couple of months, comfortable in the knowledge that we’d return to a job well done.

The care, attention and support invested by these guys extends across the board and is innate to their business culture, from Rebecca our guiding interior designer, Camillo and all trades, the respect, warmth, care and combined instances on producing a quality product was amazing.

We can not thank Pete and the BWR Team enough for the gift they have given us and would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to engage their services. Like all quality builders and renovation specialists Pete and his team are busy at present, however, I encourage you to wait for the best. Thanks Pete!
