Well Played Lines

This modernised Queenslander kitchen design with natural colour palette uses texture and timber to ground the selections, creating a successful transition between the renovation and a classic Queenslander design.

Queenslander Kitchen and Butlers Pantry

Figtree Pocket, West Brisbane

Our clients’ brief for this kitchen renovation project in Fig Tree Pocket was to ensure a natural and textured finish with depth and warmth. Timbers, stone and calm whites were the driver.

All power was given to the splash back tiles with the detailed pattern in high variation and the hexagonal shape. The tiles paved the way for the remaining finishes, soft white cabinetry keeping things clean and Caesarstone’s “Airy Concrete” adding a contemporary touch. Keeping the finishes in a matte finish allowed a feeling of natural textures which was important to our clients. Try using matte finishes in your project if you are looking to adopt this overall finish.

In this design, a stool seating area was introduced to the dining side of the kitchen to allow a natural extension to seating and entertaining. It also kept the island clear, a choice our clients were keen to incorporate.

Existing timber beams were removed between the living and kitchen areas to open the space up, however, the beam was used across the stool section of kitchen to frame and accent, allowing a natural grounding of this space. The waterfall end enhanced this further.

Further texture and warmth was brought through with the feature lighting, handmade by our clients and a great injection of further design to compliment the splash back tiles. Whilst there are several finishes in this design, the consistent resonance with other areas settles the space nicely.

Simple stainless steele appliances offer further subtlety to the kitchen design.

The kitchen leads into the living areas and all flooring was completed in blackout hardwood timbers.

All walls were painted in Dulux “Snowy Mountains Half”, a beautiful, soft white, perfect for balancing spaces and create the appearance of a larger space.

Overall, this project met all the criteria, making this a wonderful space for this growing family to enjoy.

Kind Words

Yes, Pete and the team at BWR indeed produce magnificent bathrooms (we have 3!) but they are also “top to toe” house renovation specialists.

Pete, Camillo, Rebecca, Cameron and the rest of the BRW Team have just completed a major renovation to our 5 bedroom Queenslander and the result is amazing! New floors, 3 new bathrooms, new kitchen, full window replacement, total repaint – The Works.

We researched long and hard before beginning our reno journey, met with many trades and builders. Within 5 minutes of meeting Pete, we knew we’d found our solution. As I mentioned to many of Pete’s team, we knew straight away that Pete was the sought of person that we could disappear for a couple of months, comfortable in the knowledge that we’d return to a job well done.

The care, attention and support invested by these guys extends across the board and is innate to their business culture, from Rebecca our guiding interior designer, Camillo and all trades, the respect, warmth, care and combined instances on producing a quality product was amazing.

We can not thank Pete and the BWR Team enough for the gift they have given us and would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to engage their services. Like all quality builders and renovation specialists Pete and his team are busy at present, however, I encourage you to wait for the best. Thanks Pete!
